# 10 greater than 2,354 = ?

Yesterday we looked at the meaning of the vocabulary and symbols for GREATER THAN, LESS THAN and EQUALS (the same as).

Now let’s look at how we can increase (make bigger) or decrease (make smaller) numbers  by 10, 100, or 1,000, using the same words.

===========================================================

How do we INCREASE a number by 10, 100 or 1,000? Look! Easy peasy!

10 greater than 34 = ?

Just add 10!

10 greater than 34 = 44

==========================================

100 greater than 167 = ?

Just add 100!

100 greater than 167 = 267

==========================================

1,000 greater than 5,789 = ?

Just add 1,000!

1,000 greater than 5,789 = 6,789

==========================================

The next step is to DECREASE numbers by 10, 100 or 1,000. Can you predict what you might have to do? 😉

10 less than 89 = ?

Just subtract 10!

10 less than 89 = 79

==========================================

100 less than 964 = ?

Just subtract 100!

100 less than 964 = 864

==========================================

1,000 less than 7,324 = ?

Just subtract 1,000!

1,000 less than 7,324 = 6,324

==========================================
