2D/3D Shapes in Architecture

Click on THIS LINK.  It contains photos of geometrical patterns in buildings Hong Kong.

  1. Chose a picture that is interesting to you.
  2. Take a screenshot of it (Apple-shift-4) and save it to your desktop.
  3. Add a new blog post entitled ‘City Geometry’ or something you think would be appropriate.
  4. Then, write a blog post describing some of the things that you notice about the geometry in the picture.

Try to use geometrical vocabulary such as edge, face, vertex (or vertices), angle, etc.

Try to name the 2D and 3D shapes by using vocabulary such as polygon, octogon, rectangular prism, pyramid, cylinder, etc.

Use some of these sentence starters if you’d like:

  • Some shapes I see in the photo are…
  • Some 2D shapes that are similar in the photo are…
  • Some 3D shapes that are similar in the photo are…
  • The _______ has __ faces, __ edges and __ vertices.
  • The interesting thing about the shapes in the photo are that…
  • The shape that stands out to me the most is…
Finally, publish your blog post.
