iMovie help – How to edit a movie (Basics)

  • Open iMovie
  • Import movie clip from desk top to iMovie (File > import a movie) (Import from camera = make movie straight from iMovie)
  • Event title – Choose a theme for your title
  • Select Optimize video > Large
  • Space bar is to start and stop
  • Zoom on bottom right hand side

 

EDIT

  • New project
  • Got to File and name the project
  • On right hand side click on the T (for title)
  • Name the project
  • Click and drag over the bits of the video you need.
  • Move the cursor over the clip until it shows a hand
  • Drag the bit you’ve chosen to the Project Pane on top left
  • To extend the clip – hover over the chosen clip and click on the setting icon that comes up
  • To trim – drag the yellow line in and click command B
  • If you want to cut out some parts of the middle of the chosen clip Split the beginning of the bit you don’t want, select the end of what you don’t want, and DELETE the bit you don’t want

 

WHAT TO DO NEXT

  • At the top
  • Share > Export movie > medium (It will be on your desk top) Make sure your movie has a name with YOUR name in it!!!
  • Upload to Tiger Tube
  • Embed into your blog

 

TO COMPRESS MOVIES

  • Miro> Drag movie from desktop to Miro
  • Format > Video > MP4

1. Open your blog on a new tab.

2. Log in and create a new post. Title is “WWA Mosque Field Trip Reflection”

3. Copy the sentence starters below and paste into the body of your post.

4. Read your paragraph and edit (fix mistakes).

5. Insert a picture you took while in this place of worship.

  • Go to – Add mediaon the top left hand corner
  • Upload Files – iPhoto and drag picture onto desktop
  • Close iPhotos & drag picture from desktop to your blog page
  • Medium size
  • Insert into Post
  • Publish.

Getting the posting habit…

What do we need to remember to do EVERY TIME we create a post for our blogs?

  1. Title
  2. Category
  3. Tag
  4. When you write you need to write more than one line.
  5. Check that the colour you have chosen for your font can be seen easily on a white background.
  6. You can save your work as a draft, or publish/update it straight away.
  7. You can always go back and edit it after it has been published.
  8. The important part of a post is to show what you have learned, or to record your learning.
  9. Although animations are cute… they are not important to the content.
  10. The pictures you use must be clear – not blurry or pixellated
  11. The pictures you use must be yours, royalty free, or you must have permission to use them
  12. Remember that EVERY ONE who has access to the Internet can see what you are posting… make it your best work every time.
