Importing your content from another blog
You can easily import your blog content from other blogging platforms or from another Edublogs.org blog into an Edublogs.org blog using Tools > Import in your blog dashboard.
This will import all pages, posts, comments, files. You will need to manually set up your blog theme and widgets.
Here are the instructions for:
Importing from a WordPress or Edublogs blog
1. Log into your original blog dashboard.
2. Go to Tools > Export.
3. Click on Download Export file and save the XML (WXR) file onto your computer.
4. Log into your new blog dashboard.
5. Click on Tools > Import.
6. Click on WordPress.
7. Click on Browse and browse to locate the Export file you saved on your computer.
8. Click on Upload file and import.
9. Select if you want to assign the posts to an existing user on the blog or import the author.
- We recommend you create all users using Users > Add New before importing the export file.
10. Select ‘Download and import the file attachments‘ and then click Submit.
- This will import all pages, posts, comments, files.
- You will need to manually set up your blog theme and widgets.
11. A progress bar will appear will your blog is importing.
12. Leave your browser tab open until it completes importing and you see the following information.
- This can take minutes to hours depending on the size of your original blog.
Importing from a Blogger blog
1. Log into your blogger dashboard.
2. Go to Settings > Other
3. Click on Export Blog.
4. Click on Download Blog and save the file on your computer.
5. Go to Blogger2wordpress converter (blogger2wordpress.appspot.com)
6. Click on Browse and locate the blogger file you downloaded onto your computer and click Open.
7. Now click on Convert.
8. Save the wordpress-wxr.xml on your computer.
9. Log into your new blog dashboard.
10. Click on Tools > Import.
11. Click on WordPress.
12. Click on Choose file and browse to locate the Export file you saved on your hard drive.
13. Click on Upload file and import.
14. Select if you want to assign the posts to an existing user on the blog or import the autthor.
15. Select ‘Download and import the file attachments‘ and then click Submit.
