**Yesterday we looked at the meaning of the vocabulary and symbols for GREATER THAN, LESS THAN and EQUALS (the same as).**

Now let’s look at how we can **increase** (make bigger) or **decrease** (make smaller) numbers by 10, 100, or 1,000, using the same words.

===========================================================

How do we INCREASE a number by 10, 100 or 1,000? Look! Easy peasy!

10 greater than 34 = ?

Just add 10!

10 greater than 34 = **4**4

==========================================

100 greater than 167 = ?

Just add 100!

100 greater than 167 = **2**67

==========================================

1,000 greater than 5,789 = ?

Just add 1,000!

1,000 greater than 5,789 =** 6,**789

==========================================

The next step is to DECREASE numbers by 10, 100 or 1,000. Can you predict what you might have to do? 😉

10 less than 89 = ?

Just subtract 10!

10 less than 89 = **7**9

==========================================

100 less than 964 = ?

Just subtract 100!

100 less than 964 = **8**64

==========================================

1,000 less than 7,324 = ?

Just subtract 1,000!

1,000 less than 7,324 = **6**,324

==========================================

**EASY!**
